Heavy snowfall definitely stopped many to move out of their house shopping for Christmas. It heavily reduced footfall even on the biggest sale day of the year, “The Boxing Day”. But even though the footfall remained less, Vodafone and Everyone Everywhere affirmed higher sales as compared to last year’s December sales. The increase was observed both in Contract phones and Prepay.
It is especially the sales of smart phones which kept the growth intact says Vodafone. Vodafone also added that its own brand phones saw a strong sale this December Season. In fact their brand phones remained the star sellers this Christmas season. Their spokesperson added, “We also saw very strong sales performance on pay as you go smartphones – clearly demonstrating consumer demand for internet, data and apps on the best network and taking advantage of our Freebees.”
Everyone Everywhere gave very little information just letting us know that the Orange Broadband did very well this December but refused to disclose any figures on how many connections did they actually sell. They also added that Orange’s retail trade saw a very good increase throughout the Festive month of December with high sales been observed in their Broadband package and also in their pay monthly and Pay as you go mobile deals. But one thing remained common among all retail dealers. They all saw low footfall this December yet all of them benefited from increased sales as compared to 2009.

T-Mobile too in spite of such low footfall managed to reach higher sales as compared to last year’s December sales of 2009. In fact if we compare it with its entire past history, T-Mobile managed to get the highest sale it has ever managed to get by far. Its tie up with Orange seems to have benefited the company big time. Their high sales mainly included contract phones. O2 was not available for comment.
